Pamplona Death

Another foreigner - believed to be British - dies in the Pamlona run this morning.
Don't follow the link if you don't want to see the video or the photos. It doesn't say the nationality in this report but the BBC is saying that the victim is British.

It seems strange that the BBC are saying it's a British victim, yet the El Pais link you give says it's probably a Spanish national (although this is based on slender evidence - the inscription of a ring he was wearing). Maybe the Beeb have some extra info. Whatever, it's always sad to hear of youngsters losing their life. It's a bit like motor bikes - the activity is very exciting and I can understand why youngsters like to take part, but it's very sad when deaths happen.

First death in 6 years. First foreign death - if it is confirmed it is foreign - since 1995. In 2003 and elderly Spanish man and San Fermin veteran died

Just watched it on Spanish news.
These young men put themselves in the path of danger, although unfortunate accidents happen they do not learn.

Well, given the festival involves all day & night partying leading up to the 8am run, the countless injuries each year and the fewer but unfortunate deaths are more often than not drink-fuelled. Not that this has been claimed in this case - too early to confirm, I suppose.
BTW - the BBC still claiming victim is British, although they seem to be the only ones doing so.

Anyone stupid enough to stand in a narrow street through which several tons of fast moving animals with sharp horns are going to charge, is just asking for trouble, it's like like playing hopscotch on the M5 across the lanes.

Just been confrimed that the victim is a 27 year old young man from Madrid. NOT British. Well done BBC!

I don't know why they claimed this at all. In fact I thought El Pais was being a little imprudent claiming he was probably Spanish because of a ring he was wearing. It's not like the Beeb at all - normally they're the last news source to publish details like that.

It was on the website and on Five Live news bulletins until they corrected themselves. They allegedly got the info from El Mundo

You would think. But unfortunately, they get tense. However, I have heard that, thanks to the farmer, the bull comes pre-marinated
