Default painting rejas

Hi,
A few weeks ago I remember reading on a thread about not using Hammerite on rejas but I can't remember what was advised in it's place. As it is one of my first jobs when we are back over in May, could anyone advise me?
Thanks.

Most people use Hammerite or its Spanish equivalent round here, and it's sold for that purpose, and is even cheaper than in the UK.
