Hi everyone, first posting we have been on Esuri since 2007.

We are in need of a fresh paint job on the outside.
Some of the houses on Las Lomas de Esuri Manzana 2 on the access road facing the bridge are very smart and seem well prepared with cracks dealt with.
Does anyone know of a good painter? l think l read of some one in Portugal being reputable and is it right we will have to buy the paint? So how and where can we arrange to do that?
Also we have some roof tiles to replace so any recommendations would be great.

The pinturas who have been doing a load of the Marina Esuri manzanas have been really good, reasonably quick though a bit scary (they don't hold with all the H&S nonsense on the high bits ) and have smartened up the Mazanas a treat.
They have been friendly and accommodating - e.g. apologised when they had to step over my sunbathing body (that was a joke BTW) - they ensured that they caused as little disruption as possible.

I think you should be able to contact them through Gesprosur or ask one of the concierges in ME.

PS: Don't forget to check with your administrators or the Town Hall if you plan to change any outside colours in case you need a licence. One reason to use a Spanish rather than a Portuguese painter as the locals should know the rules and match colours correctly if necessary.

I am looking for painters to freshen up, internally not externally, our newly acquired apartment in Hoyo1.
We will be there for most of June. Has anyone got any suggestions, names/phone numbers?

Ah, didn't know you wanted internal painting. I did a DIY job - brought paint, rollers and a platform over - although you can get just as good in Leroy Merlins. You can also create your own colours and shades with the mixer dyes you can get there. The Leroy Merlin at Corrales seems to have a better selection than the one beside Carrefour on the Huelva bypass.

Of course it depends how much time you've got and have basic painting skill. It's very rewarding when it all comes together - low tack masking tape is your best friend.
It took me around 3 days of fairly gentle, although quick, work cos the paint dries quickly to do 2 bedrooms (including ceilings).

If you do go to LM then take a good dictionary - I gave our concierge a good laugh when he pointed out that I had painted the front door with metal paint instead of wood gloss - gave a fantastic shine though

Before any one gets stroppy. I can vouch for Dave he does what it says on the tin and very important when it says on the tin. Might be a bit hot for external painting at the moment but inside you would be OK. If you want a recommendation on the paint PM me and a shop to get it.

What was the metal paint you bought called please? Our metal post box is looking a bit jaded and when we went to Leroy Merlin I was looking for something like Hammerite that you can paint straight onto rust. However, I couldn't find anything like that. Of course we could always buy a new post box...

Hi guys I a tin of green paint that I use for painting stairs and railings etc. it is a metal paint and antioxidant and if you only need to paint your post box them just pop round and I'll let you have some. It'll save you buying a whole tin.

I can't remember the trade name but I was a bit like Hammerite Smooth and came in more colours - I added some deep purple die to a brown at it came out a beautiful deep gloss with just a hint of colour (not to disturb the community norms!). I tried a second coat and stopped very quickly as the solvents started melting the first layer. That's when I realised my mistake - but it still looks fine and will probably last years. Did come from Merlins and was just in amongst all the other paints - said it was for railings and doors - I thought wood - they meant metal

Ferreteria y Pinturas Mestre sell all sorts of paints and I am sure I have seen a range of Hammerite pairs on the left as you go in. Failing that look in EuroTex opposite the marina they may not do Hammerite but they will have metal paints for rusty metal/ rust prevention they sell to marina dwellers.
