Default Painting

A couple of questions when painting the outside of my house on the rear wall which is part of the original old building the paint modern exterior paint in some areas will not stay on. also when painting these areas I find that the paint tends to dry and congeal on the brush very quickly, making the brush useless, other areas of the same wall seem fine! any ideas?
Also for interior walls there is in some areas a salt residue which leeches through I know in UK you can get salt Nuetraliser solution anyone any idea of what this would be in the ferreterías / Leroy merlins?

You've clearly got a (rising) damp problem - PVA might work or one of the specialist SIKA treatments first.

You need to sort out the cause of the penetrating / rising damp. You must let the area dry before painting. Any good paint shop will advise on the products to use. I would not paint at this time of year, it is far too hot and in my experience the paint will not adhear properly.

I would suggest it is better to pay a little more and buy better quality paint which stays looking better longer.

yes the pva base coat is the key - it is only 20e & lets down with water to back out an extra coat of paint.

Dilute gd qulty paint with 20% water to ease application. It is too hot now to paint as it dries too quickly.

Buy the best qulty paint but shop around - anyone not doing deals move on. Speak spanish & wear paint stained clothes when shopping.
