Default Paella Gigantica

I made a paella for more than 200 Spanish housewives today.

Only joking, it was really made by two men and when they heard that I was the only foreigner there they told me to stir it and took my photo.

No they provided moniata roll and then choc ice. Normally we cook a paella in groups of ten and then take them to the hall but this year they organised the gigantica. As usual it was bedlam, 200 Spanish woman in a large hall all talking is not for the faint hearted I can assure you. We paid 2 euros each for everything and the town hall provide each member with a plant to take home.

Dished up on throw away plates, plastic spoons, plastic cups, paper table clothes etc so all binned. The only washing up was the paella pan and the men dealt with that before they packed everything into their trailer.

We think it's great how the Spanish men love getting stuck into cooking the paella, but with some of the street parties we have been to it's a shame how much good food gets thrown away and don't get me started on the non recycling of the glass and plastic!!!

I've done one for 60 but 200 would be pushing the boundaries!

You know it's a big Paella when the pan had four handles!

Just long enough for the photo because the paella was almost cooked and beyond the stirring stage really.
