Default Oxygen stand by in UK

We live here but visit the UK regularly. My wife is now on oxygen and has a portable oxygen concentrator for travel but we need a standby oxygen cylinder at our accomodation in the UK as a back up. Has anyone done this through the Spanish or UK NHS and if so details please ?
Any info gratefully received.

I believe that oxygen is available on prescription from your GP. It may take a day or so for a local pharmacy to get it but big pharmacies (eg Boots) should stock as standard. My SIL was on oxygen and ISTR this was how it was organised.

However, if you are a Spanish resident it should be available via a Spanish EHIC in the UK. This should be arranged in advance via your clinician.

If you are a UK pensioner you cannot get a Spanish EHIC card. You apply for a UK one from the Pension Service in Newcastle.

Additionally, if you need health cover in the UK, as a State pensioner you are entitled to full health care anyway, even if you are resident outside the UK
