We purchased most of our furniture secondhand, some of it real quality. Lots came from a place in Alhaurin very good prices, they said it was furniture that people had sold mainly house clearance items.

We purchased most of our furniture from shops in Almoradi (known locally as the city of furniture. You can buy any style or quality you like @ reasonable prices. Near the upper price range you can buy Erkones at the lower end there are Ikea stores who arrange delivery or DIY using a man with a van.

I would prefer to sit on an orange box than spend time in Ikea

Is this too hard? You can even get a drink and a snack.

What's wrong with Ikea? I don't understand why it troubles you so. For me it is real easy. Walk in. Walk round. Write things down that I want. Then at the end get the store person to get them for me. Then pay at the end.

Oh nooo Hector.. WE don't shop in IKEA.. That's where the commoners go.. Pooh Pooh.. The young people I see in there starting out range from 16 year olds to 80 year olds so I think you are adhering a little bit of snobbery.. It's a decent shop man. That's why people go there. No wonder you lot keep cramped up in your house moaning about the lack of furniture and the like if you won't go to the dam shops. How stupid.

Where did I ever say I was lacking furniture?
I have a house beautifully furnished and not a stick of it from Ikea.....that stuff is way too modern for my rustic house and I prefer real wood to chipboard.
But you keep on shopping there....it keeps you out of the shops I frequent!

To the people who have knocked Ikea I have only one comment.
Poang - the most comfortable piece of furniture ever invented.

I have to agree with libraryticket. If I don't I may not live long enough to get to Spain permanently.
To those of you who think of IKEA as an anathema IMHO you have either not visited the store or have a home dedicated to chintz. I have nothing against chintz BTW. Granted IKEA sell some dross, and I have purchased some over the years, but the vast majority of their merchandise is good quality, innovative, easy to assemble if you have half a brain, and functional. Their units are often non standard UK size and therefore can sometimes be ideal for fitting an oversize or small niche.
My biggest gripe with IKEA though is that unless you have an OS map with all the shortcuts, you have to enter at the entrance, follow the one way system all the way around the store, and come out at the exit. Also in Murcia you have to negotiate a monster of a roundabout system and take your life in your hands if reports on BE can be believed.

Not at all true, I've been and even bought cutlery and pans and my home by the way has not one single item of chintz!
