One thing to look out for, some of the bottles are propane and some are Butano there is a black stripe around propane, I have often seen them mixed in together.

Posession is, as you have found, the key. If you need a spare look in the classifieds in the free press or advertise. Car boots too, 10 - 15 € is about right for an empty.
