Default One for the coffee drinkers out there

I know you guys can help with this.

What do I say to get a large cup/mug of strong black coffee (not decaf and not nescafe).

I always seem to end up with cafe solo, in a tiny cup and this does not do it for me. I have even ended up with a full cup of expresso, very enjoyable - but my mouth feels like a Turkish wrestlers armpit afterwards

In Gib recently we stopped for a drink and I asked for a cafe solo, the waiter there asked did I want that or a black coffee - I went for the latter. But being such a dozy mare did not ask him for the translation!!! (Must have been on the caffeine buzz)

Cafe americano con poco leche works for me.

I was being facetious and before someone corrects me, I usually ask for "cafe grande con poco letche y soberano" 2€ at my local cafe.

About 2 years ago a similar debate took place on the various coffees available and it ended with a list of about 15-20 coffees in Spainish with English translations anybody else remember it and where do we find it now?

I had a look too - nowhere to be seen

let's do it again

I drink cafe solo or cafe con leche in the winter

I'd love a proper 'latte' - cafe con leche just isn't quite the same

around here I can ask for solo con hielo or cafe del tiempo in the summer to get my solo with a glass of ice to pour it into

Si, Cafe Americano should be a shot of espresso (un solo) with hot water added to aprox 12oz (tho it will be served in metric )

ayyyy, I could go for a nice cafe con leche now.
