Default Notifications from the Extranjería

How does the Extranjería send you notifications?

It's a bit confusing because I get an email titled "ESTE EMAIL SE CORRESPONDE CON UN AVISO DE UNA NOTIFICACIÓN POSTAL" but just in case I do a cita for the Notificaciones department only to find out that there is nothing there and that it will come via Correo certificado to my home.

But... a week later... there is still no Correo certificado. Is this normal?

I'm afraid the only dealings I have had with them was for obtaining my wifes TIE. This was Málaga office we made a cita by telephone and attended in person. I found them helpful and easy to deal with. I did have to email with an enquiry re her savings being in the UK they responded quickly and in a helpful way. My wife received her paperwork at the same time as submitting her paperwork and information.

Not sure where you are in GC, but if you go to correos (Avenida Tirajana in the South), with ID, the chances are you have a letter there waiting for you.

EDIT: Just for clarity, that reply isn't so much to do with Extranjeria, and more to do with how Correos works. They often only make one attempt to deliver, and then leave it at the local office for you to go and collect if they can't get a signature.

Id say spam as the email should have given you the tracking number.
We had a letter to claim something back and the email I got had the Correos tracking number.

Look at the header for the email and check who actually sent it.....

Ive been getting emails about packets to collect at the Correos and a payment but I know they are spam...
Seems to be happening alot these days here, looks like (the scum) in Spain is finally catching up with the rest of the world....

Excellent point Barriej. I must admit I assumed astera was expecting this, but your point is spot on in terms of the scams.

Yes I had one the other day. I normally spot and block them straight away. However on this day I was actually waiting for a delivery and the message was missing or incorrect address. When I checked it they wanted a very small amount which was the red flag. Most go straight to spam but you have to be so careful unfortunately.

That's good because I was mainly asking about how the notifications get delivered. I just came back Correos but no joy. It doesn't appear that any registered letter is in the system under my name, but they did state that sometimes the only way to check is if you have the tracking number. Does Correos always leave a notice when they visit and you aren't home, or do they sometimes not bother?

My hypothesis is that someone at the Extranjería mistakenly checked the box that I agree to be contacted via electronic means, even though I left that box unchecked (for the simple reason that I don't have an electronic signature which would have been needed to access communications this way).

A few weeks back I received the same email from the Extranjería but was overseas for a fortnight, and when I came back there was no notice or anything from Correos that they tried to deliver something. At the time I made a cita to the Notificaciones office at the Extranjería and they gave me a physical printout of the notification (but it wasn't like in an envelope that had been returned or anything like that).

It is usually a small piece of thick paper about 8 x 10cm in yellow blue and white. If you have a private letter box it's not usually a problem and they drop the "aviso" in there, but in some complexes the mail delivery is a disaster with everything for the whole place just bundled in one lump and left to whoever gets there first, and these often get lost. The most common ones are for unpaid fines and traffic offences, so no suprising that so many go missing! Whenever I've had stuff sent to GC from the UK it has always meant a trip to the post office. Usually they find it based on name and then by ID, but maybe with Extranjeria there is a different level of security.

EDIT: Even if someone picked up the aviso, that is not sufficient for them to collect anything from Correos. Minimum ID would be DNI/TIE/Passport. If there is a tracking number in the email you received, then that can be used on the correos.es web site

Whenever correos have tried to deliver something to our house that needs a signature and can't be delivered they have left details for me to collect from the office.

I would guess that contact by electronic means would mean an email? You wouldn't need an electronic signature for that. For Malaga you can't or certainly when we did it make a cita online it had to be done by phone. How have you received this message? Did it come by mail, email or SMS.

It is Spam if it asks you to go to any kind of link. Correo will never contact by email. If the post missed you they will simply leave a message at your address

We have had genuine email messages from correos but usually through genuine tracking link via company you have purchased from. They certainly never contact you via SMS they are always Spammers.

It is not spam it will be phishing. The G.C often publish links to the Spanish Cyber Crime website via social media posts.
This is a search results about phishing scams.

Nothing there so will make another trip back to the Extranjería in the hope of just getting the notification there somehow. Pretty sure I would have received it if it was actually posted by snail mail.

If you agree to receive notifications from them electronically they mention that you need a digital signature to access them. This is to confirm receipt as it is then binding from a legal perspective (the letter will often give you deadlines from the day it is received).

So I get a message that there is a secure notification that I can collect electronically... even though I never ticked that box and should receive it by regular post.
