I have courtyard, balconies and terraces but no grass and am looking at getting some artificial stuff for my wee dog ( dog toilet she always does it something green )
Two questions ... has anyone any experience of their dog using a dog toilet box ? like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/DOG-RASCAL-C...A3BNIPON7D52KP
and my other idea was to try and find something like a UK childs sandpit, make holes in the bottom and top with artificial grass, could be hosed through...any ideas / suggestions and a man to build it lol

Glad to hear a responsible dog owner who does not let their dog soil on the streets as do many round here.

Dogs do where they want some owners don't lift it even when possible, I do see an improvement in Spain from when I came in 2004.
You have no experience of the above or suggestions ?

I would try to get a new routine going with your dog. Start first thing in the morning when she wakes and treat her for pleasing you. I personally wouldn't like one of those trays. It is possible to teach old dogs 'some' new tricks we have managed it.
I say 'some' because ours was rescued at four and try as we will we can't get him to like other dogs so we have failed so far there. You can imagine what a problem the loose dogs that come sniffing him from behind are here

These are the ones that foul the footpaths. Oh! and then the irresponsible owners who pretend not to see what their dog has done!
Good Luck! and be patient with her.

No experience with dogs here as we have cats.
Had a look at the doggie toilet. You would need to clean everyday as we do with the cat's litter tray, especially in the heat.
synthetic grass, someone very local to you has tried that. Speak to your neighbours.
Most local dog owners walk the long road at least twice a day. Good exercise !!

Thank you for your replies, I understand the toilet would need cleaned daily, I was hoping some people had tried it and had some feed back.
Walking her more often is not an option, she has a very arthritic knee and her hips are not so good either. When I see my neighbours I will ask them but as yet only seen one.

When I agreed to move here she had not had the massive flare up which has caused the knee to twist. She has had articulation problems for a few years but if I keep her mobile she was fine. She is not too keen to put it down, I walk slow and she is a bit better.

Just try to find some artificial grass that is as cheap as possible.
Suppliers advise to remove dog littering as soon as possible because it stains, but if here it's the sole purpose you shouldn't pay to much.
I have ordered some in the past from namgrass and their service was great!
They've got a UK division so you might just take a look at namgrass.com

Thank you, finding artifical grass is no problem. As you will see as already mentioned in this thread, the amount I would need is not worth having shipped !

You can buy artificial grass at Leroy Merlins - they have a variety of styles. You buy it by the metre off a roll. A number of people in our Manzana have put this down on their garden area. Some looks really good but other look very plastic.
PS Leroy Merlin is at Corrales - just to the west of Huelva (in case you don't know where it is).

Or you could just move to Manzana 3 next to Mascara22
