NIE numbers starting with "Y"
 

Has anybody overcome a similar problem ... our NIE numbers begin with "Y" and have tried umpteen times to register online with Endesa and it seems they haven't yet set up the computer to accommodate these. Have tried to trick it by using an "X" but it obviously then doesn't match up with their records and gets rejected. Apparently this is common across the board on Spanish websites. Can anybody help? :confused:

Put in your number without either X or Y. Just the number and last letter.
Usually works... :)

Not sure if this is applicable but years ago we had a problem with the zero after the first letter. Missed it off and bob's your uncle.

Try replacing the first letter with a zero, that worked for me on many sites

I had exactly this problem used the NIE No. but dropped the box and clicked on passport for some reason that worked. I think it is somthing to do with the standard being an DNI which is different in format to an NIE

I think the best thing to do is to call them and find out what is going on.
