Default NIE - Clarification

Hi There

Ive been reading through the Free Beer thread and got some useful info on the NIE Application together with the form. However the english translation form came as part of a website britsinpain which you had to subscribe to. When i tried to subscribe the weblink did not work - perhaps it is out of date now?
Can anyone point me anywhere to translate the application form?

Also as i understand it we need:
Your current passport PLUS 1 photocopy of your passport
passport size photograph
Completed application form PLUS 1 photocopy.

I am assuming children do not require an NIE Number?

WE shall be based in Quesada - and it sounds like if we travel to Alicante then we may get the numbers on the same day? Anyone willling to give any advise?

Thanks

Katya

Don't forget you will need the Form 790 to pay the tax at the bank before you go

We had to apply for NIE number in Benidorm. The 790 form was given to me in the police station as I applied, then I had to go to the bank and pay and go straight back with the payment copy. We then picked up the NIE number 4 weeks later. Shergar could not apply at the same time because he was waiting for a replacement passport and when I asked for the above mentioned form I was told that I could only receive this when we came in with the actual application. So it would appear that every office has its own guidelines.

To me it was annoying because by the time that Shergar got his passport he also had his leg in plaster and that extra trip to the bank was a nuisance.

But hei-ho that's life.

If you're moving here permanently, then I would recommend getting them NIE numbers niow - or better still, full residencia's. They will need these later in life anyway.

For example, my son is moving from primary to secondary school in September and we had to give his NIE/Residencia.

Yes, you are right. It seems to be different everywhere. Here in Gandia they won't give you the 790 until they have actioned the application form. When we were still in the queue waiting for Carol's NIE, I asked for the 790 because it was getting close to closing time for the banks, but he said I couldn't have it until he put the new NIE number on it. Makes sense I suppose. We just made it in the end. I dashed to the bank with mins to spare, then back to the Police Station, to the front of the queue, where he just gave me the NIE and my copy of the 790.
