Just to let you folks know that the law has changed yet again regarding obtaining an NIE number. Since last June this has not been able to be obtained by using a Power of Attorney but has now changed back again. Therefore if you grant a specific Power of Attorney for someone to obtain your NIE number it can now be done as long as the application is accompanied by a notarised and legalised copy of your passport (which can be amalgamated into the Power of Attorney to save the cost of one legalisation fee
