Newest Iberdrola madness.....
Okay!!!
I thought I had seen and heard everything, but I was soooooooooooooo wrong!
If you have a house/villa in the campo (or suelo rustico, or just a bit out of the way) and you are lucky enough to be connected to electricity via Iberdrola, please keep an eye on your bills. I know I've mentioned this on another thread, but this is a bit of a different worry.
We have just found out that Iberdrola personnel do not come around to read the metres of these out of the way properties. Instead, they bill you bimonthly with the minimum charge. Then, when someone gets around to reading your metre, which could be in 6 months time, or a years time or maybe more, you get a massive bill that could quite easily give you a coronary. Because if you do not have the funds to pay for a years worth of electricity (minus the minimum charge they were billing you throughout the year), they will remove your metre. Simple as that!
How to avoid this, I hear you ask.
Well, you must check your bills to see if they are checking your metre. If your bill does not have a metre reading on it, then you must check it for them and either call them and inform them or register online and send your metre reading bimonthly!
I know this does not apply to everyone, but I still think that it is important to those that it does apply to.
An acquaintance just got a bill for over 1,600€ and if not paid within the next week will most definitely get cut off!

We used to have a minimal bill when we were only visiting a few times a year and OH tried several times to give them the metre reading online and was told that they do not accept this. Maybe that is an area thing but worth bearing in mind.
