Newbie help
Hi everyone,
I'm looking to buy in Pego, just off the coast near Denia. It's going to be with a view to moving full time once I retire. Would anyone be able to give me an idea of rough costs - utilities, rates and refuse collection etc? I'll only be there 2 months per year until I retire.
Thanks in advance,
Gary

Re: Newbie help
Hello Rosemary
This is just to introduce myself.
I am Max [Major], currently residing in Uk, but retiring in 2 years, hopefully to Fuerteventura.
I will obviously be asking lots of questions.
Is there a specific "Fuerteventura" page or do I post threads in "Spain" General?
Regards
Max

Good luck with your research and ask as many questions as you wish to and also use the search facility as many of the questions have possibly been asked many times before.
Post in the Spain forum as there is nothing separate for the islands.

Re: Newbie help
Probably not because you haven't provided anything like enough information.
Refuse: probably around 120 for the year
Rates: depends. Apartments a few hundred, villas can be a couple of thousand
Utilities: will you have aircon, will you use gas or electric? It's really hard to say because if you hammer a hot and cold aircon system vs. avoid the aircon and use gas fires to heat, then the cost can be very different.
You will also need to add non-resident imputed property rental tax, and the cost of getting some professional help in doing all this for you.
And insurance.
And you'll probably have a bank account and if it is a non-resident one there will be charges, unless you pay in a certain amount a month. (although you may find free banking but look out for charges if you don't research)
Sorry, but without more info any answer you get probably won't help you much.
