if you are paying an "agent" for the use of their UK address then the fee should cover the new card also....thats what the "account maintenence fee" is for...unless your agent / installer has "gone walkabouts"...which is what quiet a few have done recently.

you can always avoid paying "paying over the odds to third party providers" by sorting out the sky card yourself..like many have..

but if you do not have a UK address that "you control" then the only route is the "agent".

you can always shop around - but the going yearly rate for "borrowing uk addresses" is anything from 100 - 200 euros per year.

but then is this too much to ask for the service dont forget the potential lagal issues" the "agents" could get themselves into...

but then installers should mention this to clients...which many have a habit of "forgetting" to mention this until the clients card becomes cut off...

and you should not really be paying an agent is all you have is a FSFS card...

we are not all cowboys...

and i look better them him

I am going to use my sisters address for an FSFS card. Can my brother in law use my name or does it have to be the householder? I want to attatch setanta to it so I want the details to be correct. Does it have to be the same name for the card & the setanta subscription?

Just received my first FSFS at my UK home for our second box in our "second" home. It is all white on the chip side and blue with yellow script on the reverse. Is this the latest new one or have I been sold a pup by SKY and will it expire soon.

in that case why not go to setanta straight away....and get a card for free and not have to pay the £20 for the FSFS card...?

sky provide the setanta satellite cards anyway...

you can use any name at all for the card account...i know one agent has some in the name of M Mouse, and D R Who.!! he drew the line at Seymore Butts...(he is a simpsons fan also!)

you MAY even be able to do a setanta order online even from spain,,but obvoisuly still using a uk address...i know people have upgarded online to include setanta

I cannot see an option to subscribe on line without having to give your card number. The only option that they send you a card is for freeview.

Re: New Sky Cards - confirmation

Hi,

We purchased a house in Mallorca last year and there was Sky digital system already installed. The Sky Card included only gives access to UK free to air channels such as BBC, ITV Ch4-5 and Sky News. As this is sufficient for us we don't subscribe to any of the Sky packages on this card (though we do have a full Sky Package at home in the UK). Does anyone know if the issuing of a new card by Sky mean the card I have in Mallorca will stop working and prevent me viewing the free channels?

Thanks

The sky web site says that you will not get (or need) a new card

ok to confirm (again!)
you do not need a viewing card to view free to air channels like bbc or itv or c4.
you do need a viewing card to view free to air channels, like Fiver Five US, Sky3, Setanta Sports News.

Five has both free to air and free to view versions available.

therefore if the sky card you have stops working you will still be able to watch the free to air channels.
if the sky card you have stops working you will still be able to watch the free to view channels.

at the moment I am not 100%sure that FTV cards will be replaced...foe example, if you order a new sky subscription you get a new white sky card...but if you order a new FTV card you get an old style blue card...a bit strange me thinks...

hope this helps.

Why is it that some websites are more concerned showing other people's bad work than their own "good" work. Why not thrive on your own reputation rather than other people's shortcomings.
