We are hoping to move over to Costa Blanca at the end of the year. We are just about to put the house on the market, after finally deciding to go for early retirement.
So far, we have explored the Alcoy/Cocentaina/Val de Gallinera areas and love the scenery! Since coming back to the UK we have been researching the Ayora Valley and like the sound of that too!

Unfortunately we won't be able to get back over there till August, so if any members can give us their opinions (good and/or bad!) of our (so far!) chosen areas, we would be really grateful.

Many thanks
Sally

Lived for a few years near Alcoy
IT'S COLD in the winter and VERY hot in the summer (and I mean hot even by Spanish standards) The big plus are the locals so open and helpfull

Hi Sally

Whereabouts in Cornwall are you, we are also in Cornwall looking to move to Costa Del Sol, we have been researching for 3 years now, we bought a plot of land, but the developer was not able to get a licence to build, so we have now got our money back and are going over next weekend to look for another property, we have sorted out bank accounts, NIE numbers and Spanish Will, if we can help with any advice using our expeirences let us know, if you are not too far from us perhaps we could meet up or you could call us, good luck it will be worth it in the end

Hi Sally

We moved over to Spain two weeks ago and are living near to Alcoy. We have been looking at properties around the Ayora Valley and it is beautiful there.

Many thanks for that! Keep me posted as to the best eh? BTW according to Google earth, there is a nuclear power station near to Teresa de Confrentes. Have you come across it yet, and if so is it as ugly as I am imagining?

Didn't see any sign of a nuclear power station but that is interesting and we will make enquiries. Teresa is a very quiet place, looked at a town house there but the place was too quiet for us. There are quite a lot of wind turbines on the hills but they are away from the towns and look ok the landscape itself is very beautiful.

I'll keep you posted.

Hi Lionda

Apologies! The nuclear power station is at COFRENTES, which is north of the ayora valley!
