I went and got my Residenicia last Monday and they didn't take any fingerprints! No photo either for that matter.

Hi, Why should we change our bank account please? and what are the procedures, does it mean that the account number changes as well. I feel a sense of panic......Thanks in advance.

They are still processing applications for a residencia card as there are so many in the system that it would be chaos if they stopped.
Also residencia cards have not been scrapped - they are no longer available for EU citizens. The non EU family members of EU citizens are still being issued with them so the process is still there and will continue to be so.
What you got was the new residencia certificate - an entirely different document.

So some EU citizens will get Residencia cards and some will get a certificate???
Sounds a bit Spanish to me!

I know of a few Brits who applied a few months back and are still waiting for a letter to go for fingerprints.
Should they abandon their applications then?
Is it not odd that the authorities have not written to explain the new procedures?
As I say, very Spanish!

No, they should continue waiting. They will have a copy of their application and it will also be logged onto the police database.
As the new certificate has no "useful" purpose they might as well wait as they will eventually get a "useful" card.
As far as the legal requirement to register witin 3 months is concerned, they have done that and can prove it if asked.

Why don't you read what you wrote:
Read it again!
Only NON EU citizens who are family members of EU citizens will get cards.
Now you are saying EU citizens will get a card! Which is it?

Non EU citizens will get a card.
EU citizens will get a certificate.
EU citizens (who applied BEFORE the cut off date) should continuing waiting for their application to be processed as they should get the card (which is much more useful that the certificate).

Is this thread confusing you or something? Seems perfectly plain to me!
Non EU citizens will get a card.
EU citizens will get a certificate.
EU citizens (who applied BEFORE the cut off date) should continuing waiting for their application to be processed as they should get the card (which is much more useful that the certificate).

Yes, perfectly plain stupidity!!
Why would you change the law and decree that EU Citizens no longer get cards but certificates instead, then continue issuing cards to EU Citizens?
As I said, very Spanish!
I notice you wrote "should get the card"!!!!
