Libre Office is a development from Open Office and is the most up to date program. If you are looking for a MS Office replacement this is the one to go for as it is the most up to date option and is continuing to be developed.

Open Office was discontinued some years ago and became Apache Open Office. There are currently doubts about its continued development.

I've used WPS Office from kingsoft for years. Does everything MS Office does and can open/save all MS formats. Free and updated recently. WPS Office Suite: WPS Office 10 Free and WPS Office 10 Business

PC assemblers who build PC's from off the shelf components and sell as a complete system have several options to install Windows on the machine. Most of these are focused towards time saving during the installation. Microsoft controls this quite strictly these days, but going back to the shop is the best way. They will check that it's a valid system builder installation and a new code is generated either online or via a phonecall to the help center.

Windows 10 has much better support for these problems than earlier versions.

Regarding microsoft Office, nobody uses CD installation these days.

You can purchase Office 365 in various versions starting from as little as Euro 49,- per year.

It has all the usual stuff, plus 1Tb of free space on the OneDrive cloud system.

Being Expats, you might be interested to hear that it also includes 60 minutes of SKYPE credit per month, so it basically pays for itself.
