Re: New Car Deals - 0% Finance
Why buy a VW when you can buy a re-badged one (Skoda) for a lot less money.
They both come out of the same parts bin & are both built on virtually identical lines, using the same techniques. Yes Skoda may have had a down market image in the 70's, but that all changed when VW bought the company & the image now has changed to the Smart Buy !

If you want a mini go buy one.
You might be able to convince yourself you will be happy driving a Skoda, but life is too short to settle for second best.

Skoda sounds perfectly good to me......the only thing I care about is whether the car is able to get me from A to B without any hassle and comfortably. I couldn't give a toss what the badge says....VW, Skoda, Seat, etc.....it's all the same to me, unless that badge is costing me a few thousand extra for the same vehicle! then I would mind.
I think it's a 'man thing' to worry about what the badge says. Remember that our OP is a female and whether a Skoda is 'cool' or not is unlikely to have any influence.
Labels on clothes on the other hand, now that's a different matter!

we bought a new fabia when we moved here 7 years ago as it came highly recommended by a friend, it has been one of the best cars we have owned and cost us nothing except the usual tyres, oil etc. We are about to buy again and it will definitely be a skoda (VW)

Re: New Car Deals - 0% Finance
I think it is a man's thing. I've had a lot of rubbish cars in my life and a very few good ones. For the price of a new basic Seat, you can buy a second-hand luxury car a few years old. Buying such a luxury car doesn't make commercial sense, but there's one sitting on my driveway now and I love getting into it and I polish the badge when I wash it. When I switch on the engine, it roars.
I try and be more responsible in my other life.

Not sure if it is a "man thing". My Niece bought a cooper and now wishes she had bought the "S". My wife hates driving any car but through a charity I sponsor she had the opportunity of being driven to Balmoral for afternoon tea in an Aston Martin and she was well pleased.
Peoples priorities are different. It would be a very sad world if we were all the same

Re: New Car Deals - 0% Finance
As a fleet sales person in my past life for 10 years my company car was different every week but always brand new. All the manufacturers would send their demos to us for us to drive and I would also deliver new cars to my customers so I am used to driving all makes and models. I loved the smell of a new car when you got inside. However those days are now past and I have to be practical unfortunately. So a 0% finance deal looks the best way to go.

I once had a Skoda, 30 yrs ago, mechanically sound body all rust, and of course the heated rear windscreen to warm the hands of those pushing.
It was reliable and a bargain, I was given it.
Mind you I registered it in the wifes name

Like it or not people make a lot of first impressions by the car you drive,
Skoda Fabia equals Pound Stretcher , Mercedes S Class equals Saville Row

Well, if it's confession time, I had an Austin Maxi once. And a Zephyr. And a Cortina.
