It really would be no surprise, he was surely a good enough strategist to have a plan B.

Re: New book claims Hitler died in south America
or was it in Texas, or maybe Italy, Outer Pandemonia, or Bexhill-on-sea?
Next it will be 'The Hitler Code' (with apologies to Dan Brown) or Hitler and the Holy Gravy. Or was that Grail.
Anyway, as long as there are people out there with money burning a hole in their pocket it'll sell.
Hitler and the crystal code. NO! Hitler and the angelic crystal code!
A tad more cumbersome, but hey, it HAS to boost sales, surely.

The story will sell some books, make the conspiracy theorists happy and swell the bank accounts of some so called journalist and publishers, no doubt the main, if not only reason for it's publication.

what about the real burial site of Christopher Columbus ?
when I grow up i am going to write me a book about...........
the conspiracy theories behind the posters on expat forums
should make £squillions

For me, Colombus is a slightly different kettle of fish, as I believe some fairly serious research has taken place in recent years to trace his birthplace, background and various other anomalies, though I understood that his burial site had been clearly recognised.

despite the title seems to still accept there is some doubt, how much was buried where, did they cut him up and send him to different places, in the same way as the holy relics of the Catholic order.
I should imagine it used to be a hard job keeping track of all the slivers of bone from holy people that were sent out from the Vatican.
not being catholic nor really religious do they put so much belief in such things nowadays ?
(not that I would want to decry anyone who believed)

Personally I think Hitler was so messed up mentally that he wouldn't have sneaked away & lived a quiet life in South America. He was the sort of person to charge the advancing T34's single handed & if he did make it to South America would've been preaching revenge from the roof tops.
I wonder how he would feel today if he saw the holocaust memorial right next door to his bunker

In this case i think the correct account is, as per Occam, the simplest.

it will only please those who have been brought up to revere the madman who gave the Germans a false pride in themselves after WWI, who thought GB would accept what happened on the other side of the N Sea and Channel so long as he didnt try to come over.
Perhaps that shows we were good europeans before it the EU existed.
