New Bar/Restaurant Opening On Esuri

Good news for esurians there will soon be a new bar and restaurant opening. Received an email from jags, confirming they are opening the clubhouse overlooking the 18th green. At least people have a choice now.

Is it going to be open to everybody as I heard that originally it was for the Villas

We got the impression from the e-mail that it was Residents and fee paying Members.

We have always had a choice, the Club House, Ayamonte or surrounding area and Villa Real and surrounding area. In fact we are spoilt for choice. Regards

If it's in the villa's leisure centre it won't last long if it relies just on the villa owners - there aren't enough to make a bar viable I would have guessed.

I think what he meant was that on Esuri you have no choice. You have only the clubhouse if you want to go for a drink, meal or to socialise. The other locations you have mentioned are not within walking distance and require taxis if you fancy a drink or two.

It is overloooking the 18th on the West course. It sits among the Villas.

Does that mean that Jag has something to do with it, or simply passing on good news?

Just had a look at the details, and wish Jag and Gavin all the best. Brave move, but good for Esuri owners and holiday makers.:rofl::thumbsup:

Hi Mike

Actually, sorry, I think we have a small choice at CE. Consider what we expected at the beginning.. when we thought there would be a hotel (+Bars/resto) - commercial centre (with bowling - bars - eating etc) etc. Of course we only have to drive 15 mins and we have a heap of other choices, but for such a large development we need more options than just one club - and the shop (I feel). Nice not to have to take a taxi as well.

We are fans of the golf club (you often see us there!) Vanya and Angela in particular are our favourite barstaff anywhere - but I think its good to have some extra choice on our doorstep. It has to be! I like the fact that one can have a beer/drink at the little shop for example and so that is another choice that came on board recently - on a sunny day its nice to have a beer or Gin+Tonic etc on the shop terrace, overlooking the golf and Portugal

The more the merrier for me.... and this new place sounds VERY interesting.

Regards
Jon

I also have no connection commercially with this new venture...but hope to be a customer. Note it is surely open to all people not a private club at all.

Here is what I posted on another thread earlier today (see below)

Jon

Ive just heard the best news in years: I have no commercial connection here and this is something I think is excellent news for us all.

Jag is opening what sounds like a fantastic club in CE - with amazing facilities, and just what we need in CE. We love coming to CE and always have a lot of fun, but CE itself lacks options for meeting and having fun. He's taking over what was the private club for the villas surrounding Marina Esuri and right there over the 18th green with big terraces and great views, and an envious list of facilities. See attached that I got from Sammy (Eds note: These are the same attachments in the post above from 'guesswork' - post no 10))

With all the terrible stuff regarding the crisis, its GREAT that Jag is setting up what sounds like a great concept... pools, poolside BBQ's, bars, wine bars, terraces for eating drinking, top notch food, snacks. breakfasts etc etc.

As we slowly pull out of recession, this is well timed to make the most of that. It will be the best resto in miles as well. And having a bar where one can watch the sports over a beer on hopefully a BIG screen (please note!:) ), and also a wine bar as well as outside eating/drinking is great for all including families. Something for everybody. And only a short walk for us - just need to make a hole in the Marina Esuri fence - to get there in a few seconds:)

This will add great kudos to CE and exactly what we need - and the sort of thing we wished for when we bought in CE. I wish him luck and will enquire about membership - as its a good deal for everybody.

All the best to Jag for this venture and great news for all of us too. Just makes CE more attractive.... great for renters too. Just gets better!!

Made my day!

Regards
Jon

Well by the sound of it this is what the Esurians needed to kickstart the year. Lets hope the guy gets all the encouragement and support he needs to make this venture viable as he himself is investing a great deal of time and money. This could make such a difference to Esuri, good luck.:fingerscrossed:

Hello everyone!

Although we've been "visiting" the Forum almost since it first started, we've never actually become members. Thought it was about time we did!

We were thrilled to hear that Jag and his partner have taken over the former villa clubhouse and we're sure they'll be a great success. We will certainly be regular visitors whenever we're there! Jag, if you're reading this, Paul and I wish you the very best of luck with your new venture (and although Andy is now in Hong Kong, he sends his best wishes to you too).

We have a place on Marina Esuri and were over there for the first week of January. Had a GREAT time, as usual, and made some lovely new friends. Can't wait to get back!!

Best wishes,

Barb

Hi Barb - Great to meet you, Paul and Andy - we had a great time and thanks also for inviting us over to yours.

Once you've made 3 posts you can send receive private messages, and emails and I'll send you the photos! Or we can text our email addresses as we have the phone numbers

You won a prize in the golf club raffle, that we picked up for you and will hand over when we are next there together. Or I can figure out a way to get it to you, if we are not there. Good omen for you all, we hope for 2010!

Well I hope its not an omen actually as we won nothing! :)

Looking forward to our next drink either at ours; the Golf club, on the terrace of the shop or at Jags new place.... the choices are improving!! Like Ive said several times before - we love it in CE and it can only improve and its these kinds of new investments that will add all sorts of value - and FUN - to our development.

All the best to you three - good luck to Andy in HK - and welcome to the forum

Jag and Gavin are holding a roll up open day next Saturday Feb 6th between 1.0pm and 5.0pm at the club
We think this could just be the first chink of light for Costa Esuri after the debacle of the MF liquidation stopped the hotel and commercial center dead and left no alternative to the Golf Clubhouse for a drink or snack. We are promised that closing time will be later than 9.30pm on weekdays and that football matches will show both halves and extra time before the plug is pulled.
The re-opened shop on Lomas is good and certainly the cheapest beer in Ayamonte with a view to die for from the terrace on a warm day but it is a bit bleak at this time of year.
Hope to see all our friends next Saturday and we can find out if this new promise is as good as it seems. The really good news is the restaurant/club at Costa Esuri is on track to open for Easter and there may be more exciting things to come in addition to the Sports Bar, Terrace Breakfast/Snack Bar, Restaurant and swimming pool.
Regards,
John.

The "more exciting things" that John is keeping back is that he recently won the Euro lottery and is going to finish the hotel and open up the Commercial Centre. He is then going to run for Mayor of Ayamonte and sort out MF once and for all. I've got that right haven't I John?:thumbsup: Come to think of it I reckon he'd make a brilliant Mayor.

Yes, I would vote for that. John for mayor, he would soon get things moving. How about it John? Ever thought of taking up political office when in Ayamonte?;)

Jag,

Good luck with this - I am sure it will feature strongly in the future.

All

Given its location, I believe that this is in fact where the clubhouse was supposed to go in the original designs of the site...and unofficial clubhouse it may well one day become: nothing better than sitting on the terrace of the 19th and watching those "clutch puts" on the 18th Green!

The golf clubhouse may well have to set up a buggy return service to get them from Jags back yard back to the clubhouse basement!

We may finally be getting closer to completing. You never know! :fingerscrossed:

Note: I have no commercial connection here: Though I am seriously considering a membership for us.

I received an invitation for the open day - sadly I cant make it as I would love to see the inside.

However he says this regarding the opening times:

We are holding the first of our open days this Saturday 6th February between 1pm and 5pm at the new restaurant on Costa Esuri.

If you are on Esuri this weekend feel free to call in and have a look at the facilities, we will be on hand to answer any of your questions.

In response to a number of queries please find attached a document explaining 'how your membership works' (in PDF and GIF format).

Note the new resto/bar complex can be found in the villa complex right next to the driving range:

Come into Esuri, from the motorway, turn right at the 1st roundabout (with the fountain, next to the golf car park and commercial centre) then at the next roundabout turn left. Go down a couple of hundred yards - its on the left

Looking forward to hearing the feedback about the place and the open day. Will someone please post.

Regards
Jon

PS Ive included the attachment Jag refers to + a photo of the building

We went to the open day yesterday, wow what a lovely place. The grandstand view from the terrace of the 18th green and the river must be one of the best on Esuri. Deceptively spacious place, never thought of it being so big when I've gone past before. Big turnout and saw quite a few signing up for membership.

Hello all.

I have just joined British Expats after only viewing the pages for some time. I thought it was about time I joined up.

This resaurant sounds great, my wife and I have been to Esuri a number of times and are thinking about buying there. We have heard of a new restaurant but I am 100% sure that it is not Jags one that you are talking about. This one is said to be opening this summer and is going to be run by a couple from London. I was told this the last time we were visiting in November last year. Has anyone else heard about this?

Whoever is doing it I am sure it will be popular as Costa Esuri definitely needs another eatery and watering hole.

This resto is most definitely Jag's and is scheduled to be opened by Easter.
If there is another one being opened in summer it has been kept very quiet,as know one has mentioned it at all.

Here here, the only mention of a new eating drinking social place,is the one Jag is promoting. Which most people have recieved e-mails about, and looks to be a promising venture. Not heard or read about any other such venues?.

Ken.

We've not heard of a new resto per se... but in the sea and sun development there is a big pool and we heard that next to it they were going to make a club that would sell coffee's, snacks maybe more substantial food. I must stress that this was a vague rumour - but in November we sneaked in to check it out (and have a general nose around) and yes there is a building next to the pool that could house something like this. Of course they would have to open up the security gates if this was to be a public place.

I also heard that the shop will expand, create an outside covered terrace with screen and become more of a bar as well... (still selling bread + basics) - perhaps also e.g paella and music nights. (This is less of a rumour as I heard it from Jose Manuel himself) Great views from there and we often go there for a beer or G+T when its warm.

All I say is the more the merrier! with the European economy in trouble by the 'PIGS' Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain - the recession is biting more here. BUT now is the time for forward thinking people to take the lead and invest when everything is cheap, and when the recovery comes they will be well placed to profit from the change. There are leading indicators that we are coming out of recession and so I say go for it. It only makes CE better for us all and the businesses that start up. If they can create the right formula - they can also succeed.

I also think that Brits who can invest in property in the sun - not for the short term - have a great opportunity as well. Buy now at a fantastic price, and hang on a bit and take advantage of these changes have a lot of fun, and wait for the property market to change. Ive also heard that CAM bank are agressively selling Rago 1 properties to the Spanish second home market - so we will see more and more people coming into CE.

Tea leaves are looking good! :)

In the meantime we are eagerly awaiting Jags new place and based on the feedback, the huge interest on the 1st open day and the great potential of his new place - CE is already improving really well. There is a second open day on Tuesday 16th - not sure what the times are but if you go there at 2pm onwards, I'm guessing that you should be OK. The last one was from 1-5pm. Anyone know the times?

Its already great fun in CE.... and.... Its gettin' better all the time:)

Hi all, I am having trouble sleeping so I thought I would say hello. What is the weather like there?

Anyway, regarding the other restaurant on Costa Esuri... I heard about it from a young couple who live here who are friends with the people who are starting the restaurant. As far as they were concerned it was a dead cert. They did say it was not being advertised until everything was in place, but I did not think it would still be secret information. Maybe you will hear about soon if it is still going ahead.

If it is true then that is really good news. More choice the better, this will surely bring more rentals and visitors to CE. I think it may have a snowball effect with other businesses looking to start-up if they can see these new restaurants are doing well.
