MOVING TO SPAIN

This has more than likely been covered before but I was wondering if anyone has up to date experience of moving their household goods, tools etc. to Spain? After taking early retirement, we will be collecting our TIE cards in July and hiring a van to transport everything on our own via ferry to Santander in September. We have done the journey a couple of times pre-bexit without any problems. What can I expect when rolling off the ferry next time and what paperwork/documents will the Spanish authorities require at the port? Will I need to present an inventory of all the goods and their value? Will I need to unload all the van?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Are you moving from Ireland or UK ? If you are moving from the UK i was just wondering how have you managed to obtain the TIE if you have not been living in Spain since before December 31st 2020 ? I did not realise people could still get residency after brexit ? Just a thought but what do I know, that is why I ask is because I am curious.
As for all your goods (someone correct me if I am wrong) but since brexit I have been told it is a nightmare moving goods now. Literally every single thing needs to be itemised and valued, correct weights on boxes and itemisation on every box etc
I suppose if you have everything typed out clearly on paper and on boxes etc in Spanish and English you will be making it all easier at the border the more organised you are.
good luck with your journey though

When I crossed from Santander to Portsmouth the police stopped every van and SUV. They examined everything in my boot.
I believe the process is random and most get through without any checks. Good luck.
IMHO, It really is not worth the hassle and expense moving household goods.

Thanks for all the info and the heads up! We currently live in the UK and so applied for the NLV in Manchester. Many boxes to tick and hurdles to jump! Everything gets sent to Madrid to be authorised. The process takes around a month. We then submitted our TIE application in Huelva and we are due to collect the cards in July.
I know it's a false economy when you factor in the transportation costs bringing items over but there are many personal things which have amassed over the years......I'm sure you've all been there!

Like I said I do not know the exact ins and outs but a guy I know who does removals backwards and forwards told me it is more of a headache now after brexit stricter border etc.
Like I dont understand when its personal items why you need to value them all. Its a joke if you need to pay import duty on personal items. Not like you are going to sell it all to make money.
i think before brexit a removal van could have a load of boxes on just saying household goods and I think the weight of the whole load but I think now every single last item needs to be listed in detail, value and weight etc
hopefully everything goes pretty straight forward for you
