As always, finding a niche in the market is the holy grail. However if there is not a shop providing >>>>>>>>> one must ask is there really a need?

Thank you both for your replies. Great information.
My passion is baking for example from cupcakes to occasion cakes (birthday, anniversary). Not really breads though.
If I go down the cafe route I would prefer to appeal to families rather than groups of drinkers.

Although I'm not sure if there is a market for occasion cakes.

Anymore feed back would be great.

There is a market for occasion cakes. I know that most of the people go to their local cake shop to order them. It has become increasingly popular amongst the younger parents to have something special made for their childrens birthday and especially their confirmation cakes.

I see that some speciality cake shops are opening up, which apart from selling the cakes are also offering cake decorating classes and selling the ingredients and tools associated with the business/craft. Whether this will be a viable business is anyone's guess.

At this moment, you should not even think about a fulltime move to Spain. Unemployment is dreadful there. The younger you are the larger unemployment bracket you are in. Spain is in recession and is likely to remain so for many years to come. Opportunities to eke out a living will be few and far between. If you are in gainful employment in the UK whether you like your job or not, it is far better than earning nothing in Spain.

Bottom Line:- If you need to acquire a job in Spain you have little or no chance.
