I thought it was sensible advice. You can read all about sun, sangria and fiestas on estate agents blog site. Nothing stopping you putting on a different point of view instead of posting troll everytime. What would make you happy if everyone said, as one poster did it's great you can drive drunk and there is no crime

If I am researching anything I like to see all views and then make up my mind. We were thinking of setting up a business in Florida 10 years ago. Read a Florida forum for a while. Most views were glowing, made you want to get out there ASAP. The few negatives were abused, like on here. Most of the positives hadn't been out there very long. A lot of those have now returned either having lot everything or had their visa renewal denied.

It is true that men settle better than Women, not sure why. Perhaps women miss family and long term friendships more I would have left about 2 years before we did had it not been for OH. One friend went back and left her Husband in Spain. He stuck it out about 3 months then joined her

They dont want the big cities or expensive areas so 2k

2k per month for a family of 5 is not such a great lot, any less would be difficult, to say the least.

Maybe it is good advice to check out the area, we all know that, but it is the snide little comment on the end, strangely it was just on the end and not the complete post.
I am sure the op would take offense at that remark, I do as I live in the area.
The little sheepshagger has had a cheapo weeks Sun newspaper holiday over here, in which time he has learnt fluent español and knows everything about all the areas of Spain.
Hopefully people needing advice will take it from people that are living here and have a little more experience than a weeks holiday.

I`m off to conjugate a few español verbos. ;-))

agoreira and J2 and me are often accused a long with others of being a neg head, but I must say from what I have seen of his/her posts and pms, where language is concerned, I would say that he is VERY knowledgeble. And I suppose that anyone who has such knowledge would certainly be fluent, and if that level was reached on a 2 week cheapo holiday, the guy is a blinkin genius.

Hey don't quote him, I have the sad ex fontanero on ignore, I can manage well without his infantile offerings. The cheapo holidays are usually in the Brit ghettos, I don't do them, the thought of bumping into the likes of him is enough to make me steer well clear of those places. Por cierto, gracias por el halago, aunque no sea merecido ¡los piropos siempre son bienvenidos!

Nah, it ain't a lot but I've done it with a lot less and been quite a lot better off then I was in the U.K. Just saying like. Up north I didn't earn a lot. I was always robbing from Peter to pay Paul. (Peter was our blind next door neighbour, Paul was my dealer). When I moved to Spain where the 'GRASS' was greener I earned a little less yet managed to balance my books a little better. With help from my wife who wasn't stoned. Aaaahh.. You're all boring.. See you in another eleven months unless I get banned. People live on a lot less than 2k a month. That's 24k a year. Ask how many people earn that much in the uk, up north. Not fricking many. Better quality of living over here, better weather (the old cliché), have fun.

Thats as maybe, but I was under the impression that you were retired and do not have 2 kids to support or put through school with all the expense involved, and I presumed that you dont have another baby on the way, and that you do not have to pay for medical care for 4/5 people as the OP will have to.

I presume that the OP is not a pensioner, and would have to make arrangements for medical cover for a family of 5 and will not receive the winter fuel allowance either, but I could be wrong on all counts

But I was answering the question based on the circumstances of the OP who asked the question.

You may be right, but this is another thread with no info like have they got a job etc.
They only have to base it on what it costs in the UK as it will be similar here and if he has a contract job they will be covered healthwise.

PS I think lushy has a similar sized family so he should know.
