What you need is capital to get you through the first year. Do the job right & you'll get referrals. Bend over backwards to make your customers happy. But trust me on this one, if you provide a crap service & fob people off, you'll go bust guaranteed!

Spain is full of blaggers. The expat community is full of handymen CLAIMING to be tradesmen. If you do what you do WELL, i.e. you provide a good service at a good price then yes you will get through the recession. Your problem is those chancers who have passed before you. Too many people have had there fingers burned by people who claim to be experts but in actual fact know f*** all!

I know a guy who "claims" to be a builder but is installing Sat dishes for ex-pats (never Spanish) who seems to have to provide a second visit to put it right.
