Will she not be going to sixth form, college or uni? and what will she do in Spain? work? what about friends? I don't want to rain on your parade but I can understand why your daughter is not as keen to move as you.

No she won't be staying on at school as she hates every minute of it but she must get her head down this year for her exams. As for work well she is interested in beauty courses but does not want to spend 4 years at college as this is the lenght of the courses here in Scotland. Looking to get her into nail course or something similar (have seen these advertised for southern Spain) as this is her interest or it is for the moment and if she is able to complete any of these courses a friend of ours has opened a beauticians in our area of spain and is offering her a full time position.
As for friends has plenty at school and in our village we live in but only socialises with a few as most are at the drink and drugs stage. And as we have rain most days here she spends her time on her computer so a new social life for her would be a good thing although going to be difficult at first.

Oh thats a shame I suppose the academic route isn't for everyone, the beauty and nails sounds good. Especially if she can get a full time job at your friends beauticians. I know there are some courses over there but they can be quite pricey. Do you have 'connexions' in Scotland. If so an advisor might be able to help your daughter out in choosing what to do next. It would be handy if she could do a short course first in Scotland as it would be free.

Good luck with everything!

Are you living in Spain at the moment ? I found out through another website that in southern Spain there is a few nail courses that are free of charge but haven't been able to find out if there is any in our area. Unfortunately my daughter has been spending a day each week for the last year at college but not in beauty, but she has learned to cook, as this course was not available. This year she will spend a day a week at her choice of work but again beautician wasn't an option for her.
I also have a son of 11 yrs and our reason for moving next year was not only to let my daughter finish school but to let him start secondary school in spain.

Hi Mitzy how do I get permission for my daughter to sign up (its a bit like shutting the gate after the horse has bolted ) as she already has ....but I don't want to be doing the wrong thing.

Cheers
Kate
