Look at soem of the local english language papers on line, should be plenty of help there, watch out for those selling from the road side with a mobile number in the window, they MAY be OK, but then again..

If you buy a car you also get the parking ticket debts etc on it too, so check that out, otherwise it could be an expensive banger.

Have a look at the classified in a Spanish newspaper, it will give you an idea of prices.

Here's a link to 'Las Provincias'. you can use the 'pick list' to define Valencia, Alicante provinces etc.

http://www.tusanuncios.com/clasifica...ismos-turismos

BTW an 'ordinary' car is called a 'turismo' in Spanish.

I would sugeest you buy from a dealer, one that is well established. If you buy a car in Spain, and there are unpaid fines for parking, speeding etc, then you 'buy' the fines as well as they are irrevocably linked to the car and NOT to the owner.

Am i right in saying you need an NIE number before you can buy a car as well?
So if ur wanting to buy a car as soon as you come to spain you might want to apply for your NIE before you get to spain. Either that, rent one for a month or so then apply for NIE when u get to spain.

Spoke with agent today who confirmed getting NIE in Aug would be dificult but said that there is a new system now and will only take a couple of days once things open up again. Also said that we should be able to set up bank accounts, place a deposit on business (Assuming we find something) and arrange rental agreements on accomodation using our passports. What can i strictly Not do without an nie (apart from purchase/register a car)?

Why not apply for your NIE in the UK before you leave?
Think the details are in the FREE BEER thread.

My understanding (Which Spain has confirmed) is that you now have to apply in person.
