Moving to Ibiza
Hello everyone,
I am thinking of moving from London to Ibiza in Spring 2015.
I currently own an apartment in Ibiza and have been visiting the island for a number of years. I think now is the time to make a permanent move to the island
My plan is to sell my London home and buy a house in Ibiza with the south west of the Island my preferred location.
The house I am looking to buy will have a separate apartment attached for letting purposes.
The plan is to have two apartments for letting over the summer (South West of the island)
I think I would need to earn about euro 15-25k a year to live on.
Would the holiday lets in the summer provide this ?
I was told by the estate agent that I can get about Euro 500 per week for each apartment. How long realistically is the rental season?
I am an IT technician so I thought is could eventually pick up some contract or part time work as well.
My aim is to speak fluent Spanish within a year and I will be able support myself financially for about 3 years until the holiday lets is established.
Does this sound realistic? Any advice would be appreciated.
BB

I don't see a problem then and it's definitely an option. Worst case scenario: If money runs out, you could still work abroad temporarily with your profession.

Re: Moving to Ibiza
If you're mortgage free and have 2 holiday lets plus willing to turn your hand to anything then you don't seem to have a lot to lose.
You may want to consider renting your London home and renting initially in Ibiza. You'll soon find out if permanent living is your thing.

Re: Moving to Ibiza
Hi, if those apartments are in the San An or Playa d'en bossa areas and are mortgage free then you are quids in in the season months which is now getting longer mid may to mid October. How many bedrooms are each apartment ? If I was you I would leave them both in the capable hands of an English property management company, there are plenty in Ibiza. Workers would rent those straight away for the season but be prepared for some sort of damage along the way. :-)
