Hi!
I was offered a job in Gibraltar. My salary is going to be 20000 GBP. So I'm wondering whether this amount sounds reasonable for Gibraltar at the first place. I'm single, so I have no family to support and I have very simple lifestyle. I've also read all the information that I could find on flat rentals and cars, but still I couldn’t find answers to some of my questions. I'm wondering whether bringing a car to such a small place makes any sense. What would be a bottom line for studio flat for one person? Will I be able to get something for 600 GBP? I know some people work in Gib and live in Spain, but somehow I’m not very enthusiastic about crossing boarder twice a day. Any advice is highly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi RawG
First of all check out your tax liability.
http://www.gibraltar.gov.gi/taxation
If you bring a car with you it will have to pass an MOT in Gibraltar or Spain whichever you decided to live in, also it will have to pay import duty.
A flat for £600 possible but difficult try googling Gibrlatar estate agents and take a look. Flatshare would probably be your best bet and then more likely in Spain.
Also search Gibraltar on this forum for further information.

My advice to you is to live in La Linea on the Spanish side of the border. Its chepaer in any way, and quite easy to find a flat to very reasonable price.
Thats the way most people handle this situation.

There are cheap places in Gib but I wouldn't count on them being that nice. have you thought about sharing somewhere maybe you could find someone else on the board who is going the same time as urself (or who is already there) and sharing a £1200 a month apartment, which I'm sure would be nicer.
What is it you would be doing over in Gib?

Hi RawG, I'm in the same boat, have you taken the job? When would you start?
I'm also looking for flatshares, either in Gib or La Linea.
