So from the decision to move to the Canary Islands a month ago - and a few holidays in between the moving date that has been thrown together is next week.
i got some great information from this forum that helped but a lot of research and chasing up was also needed.
On the residency front - I’m married to a Spanish national so just going to turn up and do the family roots (arraigo).
For the car with the astronomical prices of motors in the canaries for the first few years we are just taking ours.
Shipping was ridiculous absolutely not paying 3.5k to ship a few bits. Instead I’m just going to drive the car down with a roof box and bike rack. All our furniture we are either selling or dumping and just buy new when we get there. I thought about a van or camper but we don’t really want a camper and van hire was quite expensive for what we would benefit.
So yeah thanks to anybody that assisted in some of my decisions. And I hope this helps if people are in a similar position of moving in under a month.

It is good to get some feedback that the advice given on the forum has been helpful and that a move has gone well. All so often when people ask advice about moving to the EU and the facts of life post Brexit are pointed out to them they get the hump and blame the contributors for being negative and such like

oh for sure brexit has been a massive negative for us and made everything for me so much harder than it needed to be. Being married to a Spaniard has been my saving grace and being fortunate to just randomly find an amazing job.
i’m sure it won’t all be smooth sailing but we just have to adapt, improvise and overcome 🤣. Having a savings run off just in case has also brought everything into reality.
