Default moving to costa del sol

Hi everyone .
I'm a new member and need some help and advice please .
My partner and I (he is 50 and I'm 44) are planning a move from the UK to Torrox CDS next year ,I have had my own cleaning business for 17 years and my partner has had a window cleaning business for 20 years ,we want to stay in the same line of work but not necessarily being self employed ,is it difficult to find this type of work even housekeeping in hotels ?
We also want to rent an apartment long term ,how much rent would you advice us to pay upfront ?
Also does anyone know how much were looking at for health cover to cover us both ?
Thank you all so much ,any advice at all in any area of us moving over would be so much appreciated . Cheryl & Darren .

Hello "again" Cheryl,

The unemployment rate in Spain is still very high, probably still around 20%. There are thousands of Spanish worker looking for cleaning and housemaid type positions and many are on lists. You will need to speak fluent Spanish to stand much chance of securing that type of work.

If you are to become self employed you will have to pay around €250 per month to the authorities for that privilege but that will also cover healthcare. Private health insurance can be expensive and won't cover existing problems, costs are probably equal to BUPA.

A typical 2 bedroom apartment will cost you around €500 per calendar month. You will need to put a security deposit equal to a months rent plus a months rent.

There will be electric to pay but water is usually in with the rent.

To live here full time you will need to prove you have a regular income (some areas require around €600 each per month) or a large amount of savings. You will also need to prove you have healthcare covered.

Hope that goes a little way to help.

Steve
