I'm not buying into any of that.
If it meant, 'The dogs Nordles' then surely it would've been taken that way as the Savateur writes pretty damn good English. So I would assume (correctly or not) that they had a pretty good grip of English terminology. So if you were to say it to him even in Spanish, they should understand what it meant.
I think next time, just be careful you don't call someone a French male escort with bad language skills..;) Not surprised he put you on ignore.:rofl:
(It does say thick and dumb as well as great and good according to the collins dictionary for thick Dingles like me):p

I like the highlighted bit dogs nordles, is that what they say in Scandanavia? It sounds a bit Nordic to me.

If so, dont confuse the issue by bringing more languages into the discussion, I tried with French comment and see where it got me.

I added the French bit, because I saw a bit of it in his post and thought, as I is known as the language of love, then he could always supplemnt his income by "escorting and knocking the women bandy with his Galic charm". :sneaky:

But it all went pear shaped.

It did indeed! :) I could see nothing wrong with your comment at all, including the "french bit", but that´s the way it goes sometimes on forums. Had you said it to him in person with a smile, it would probably have been taken as it was intended. But there we are, no loss, at times you need a thick skin in these forums. Either that or the "ignore" button! :rofl: Works for me!

I'm curious about other uses for this word as some have found it in dictionaries to have other meanings, a lot of my friends are south American so I'll ask them this weekend, as said it's poiible it has other meanings in other countries. OH said it could be used as a form of the word "stubborn" but not very common.


And lets not forget "de puta madre", who'd have thought that could have more than one meaning :D.


p.s. If we can't swear, wht isn't there a word filter on this forum?:confused:

This thread is a perfect example of why the T&C's mention the use of foreign languages. OK. to discuss words but not to address someone personally, they reach for the dictionary and misunderstandings arise:unsure:

What are dictionaries for? If the savateur was to reach for his dictionary he (I'm assuming it is a he) would have seen it had two meanings and if he had any common sense figured out that JLS is being complimentary, I don't think he reached for anything. I think if you look at his name you will figure out what he is up to.. That's my opinion on it anyway..

dictionaries can be dangerous:lol:

there is one lesson I do which centres on how to use a translation dictionary - you can come up with some hilarious errors if you use the wrong word

I had to write the lesson because several students would insist that they'd looked the word up & 'that's what the dictionary said' & I'd be sitting there trying to keep a straight face

you're right though - if he'd looked it up properly there would have been no problem - probably

if he used google translate though it would have come up blank

I thought everyone knew what a dictionary was for..............

the same as an " en sike low peed ee ya" they are uesd to prop you bed up if one of the legs get broken, and just the right thickness in case the wheel falls of your divan.
