Question Movers? Please share your experience.

Hi all, we expect to move from Surrey to Valencia next year, really as soon as we can sell our house there.

Could you please share your experience with the moving company you used?
I'd rather keep the furniture we have rather than buying new one in Spain. Not that we own anything particularly expensive, but I spent lots of time choosing and saving to be able to get the little things we have and wouldn't like to end up giving them for nothing.

I have received a few quotations and I think we will be moving our stuff.... just need to decide which company to use.

Many thanks for your help.
Eva

Question Re: Movers? Please share your experience.

Thanks, we are taking our car and won't be hiring a truck, so no automovers.

I have received some offers and cannot really decide as prices are quite similar.
- Doree Bonner
- Eagle Relocations
- Move Corp
- ReloUK

So far I think it's between Doree Bonner an Move Corp.

That's why I would appreciate if somebody could share their personal experience with their movers, from my list or not.

Also, how easy did you find the process, did they stop your stuff at all? I thought they would not check within the EU.

Thanks,
Eva

Forgive my confusion but if you are taking your car and not needing movers why do you want any information on others experiences ? As I said there is plenty of that shared on here in other posts for you to look at.

I think she said they wouldn't be needing AUTOmovers, ie would be driving their car or have made other plans, but still need someone to take household contents etc.

We are taking our car, which doesn't fit our furniture and therefore will need movers for all our stuff. I've searched a bit here and that's how I know about automovers. Will look a bit more in case anybody actually recommends their movers as so far I have only seen automovers. I'm only looking at movers to Spain to start with and there are not so many in the posts, will gradually look for movers to other countries as they will normally work in Spain too.

If I can make a suggestion, this topic would actually be a good one to keep at the top of the forum so that all comments will be in one single place. Or maybe it is and I haven't seen it yet, sorry for asking, I only joined yesterday at the end of the day.

Thanks,
Eva

I apologise for my mis understandings I understood not needing a truck as they did not need removal company. I also thought that they may have changed their minds about taking what little furniture they said they had and were moving by car. I don't see where I mentioned automovers either.

I've seen this last week a new web site that may be ideal for this kind of situation. It claims to find the best transport providers at the cheapest rates - and you can check via customer feedback whether the shipper is reliable or not.

http://www.mercadotransporte.com/+L-...o+A-index.html

I don't know how long it's been going though - and it may not yet have the numbers to get you a good quote. Worth checking out though, I would imagine - so far as I know they don't charge for any quotes. It's a Spanish based website, so they should be good for moving stuff to Spain, I would have thought.

No need to apologise, it wasn't too clear. We will need movers for our stuff. I only mentioned automovers as that is the one I found in posts for Spain.

It seems that posts for other countries recommend Doree Bonner, but they mention customs and requisites for USA or Australia, so not sure about customs within the EU. Cannot see a problem as there are supposedly no barriers now... but wouldn't like a lot of delays or extras to pay if they actually stop the truck.

Did any of you bring your TV, computers and white stuff with you? Not sure about bringing them...

Thanks Stevie, I'll have a look now.

Update: it seems to be a good site if you need to move things within Spain; mainly bigger items you buy in ebay. Nothing came up when I looked for international movings from the UK to Spain. Anyway I'll keep it in mind if at any point I decide to buy something big once in Spain, thanks!

At the end of the day all these movers are much of a muchness. I wasnt prepared (having been in the shipping industry) to risk putting my stuff in the hands of others and so hired a large van and bought it down ourselves. That cost about £1500 return. However you can use one way hire companies that will allow you to collect in the UK and drop off near Valencia.

If however you dont wish to do that, then you just take your pick because the quality of the removal depends very much on the team that do it. Also, if you are doing a part load, the goods are likely to be stored until they have a load for the area. That means transhipping.

Whichever you use it probably wont be cheap.
You will need to count the boxes on, and then check when you get to the other end that they are still all sealed. Try to get your own insurance, rather than use the company that the remover recommends.

Good luck. Where abouts are you moving to? Valencia city. or the area

Well be carfeul whom you choose, I was had by thieves who were not happy with being paid almost 4000 in cash. They may still be operating.

If you can buy a van you recover some if not all of the money when you sell it on and yoy know exactly where it is and what is in it.

I am currently going through those agonies and although I havent made a final decision yet I have found one company that puts over a professional image, has proper literature, website etc, has regional contacts etc
so suggest you try
http://www.clockworkremovals.co.uk/

but it sounds like I will be moved before you

We didn't bring any furnisher or white goods as we didn't know what kind of property we would end up buying or how long things would have to be in storage for.

At the time of our move it was doubtful if UK TVs would work here, as far as I'm aware they do now, as do Sky boxes and cards.

I did bring my computer with me as it was only a year old at the time, we packed all our boxes ourselves so it arrived in perfect condition, as did everything else.
I've since bought a new computer here, Windows 7 was in Spanish, but I paid to have it changed to English......I'm not that integrated that I want to use it in Spanish.
What I do now if as I did recently I want to update Office or buy a new program....I use Amazon UK.

Good luck with the move.
