Virtually nothing of Irish affairs is published in the UK. Offhand I couldn't even tell you the name of the Irish president, and I suspect the vast majority of Brits would be the same. Maybe it's generally the case with a smaller neighbour next door?
or France ?? only Italy because there has been a coach crash :( |

or France ?? only Italy because there has been a coach crash :( I know Angela Merkel is in charge of Germany for now - but no idea if she's likely to win the coming elections. Italy? They tend to change leaders a lot don't they? But Berlusconi and Bunga-bunga seem to stick in the memory for some reason... I couldn't name the current leaders of Holland, Belgium or Norway. |

Well I know that Hollande took over from Sarkozy in France.

Hello everyone,
I'm just wondering if any of you guys have an experience of working and living in Gibraltar (or possibly living in Spain and working in Gib). I'm a 30 years old girl, who just received a job offer in Gibraltar and considering making the move. It's a well paid job and I'm very tempted to do it. I also have an option to stay in South of France and not sure what to do at the moment. I'll obviously go and check out Gibraltar and surrounding areas in Spain before moving there, but visiting somewhere and living there is not the same thing. Would be good to hear about anyone's experience in Gibraltar and if they're happy with where they are or not. I'd be living there on my own (or in a shared accommodation). It's not too quiet for young people there, or is it? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks! |

Which parallel universe have you been living in for the last 40 years ?
Do you really think most Brits will know the name of the Irish leader or president, without looking it up? |

Re: Move to Gibraltar or not?
Last time we visited Gibraltar we had to stay in a hotel in La Linea because the Rock was full. We explored La Linea on a couple of evenings and got the distinct impression that the locals didn't like British people.
We only got that impression from the local people we spoke to, but when we spoke to the Guardia Civil about a minor traffic matter, it wasn't just an impression, it was full blown, out and out hatred, which shocked us. I wouldn't want to live with that on a daily basis. |

The lads probably to busy googling about Spains miraculous economic recovery and how sh!t everything is in the UK to think about anything else. ;) |
