We were only talking the other day about the waste of both olive oil and plastic when you are served a little pot of oil with your food or tostada - maybe the EU heard us

Not so sure about the sugar packets though...

So they are going back on their own nonsense from the ruling in 2014 that bottles could not be put on tables unless they had tamper proof caps to ensure hygiene.

I hate the silly little packets and I shouldn't seeing as I spent 30 years installing just such machines in factories all over the world.
The worst one was at Fisherman's friend in Fleetwood putting two tablets in a packet.

Yes, I was thinking, didn't they ban squeeze bottles of sauce for being unhygienic...and I hate those stupid little packets that won't open!

No, I'm not sure about the sugar packets either. If they have to start putting sugar bowls on tables I can see it being unhygienic as people put wet spoons in them and I can never judge how much to put in my coffee if they use those pour out sugar dispensers. Some of the restaurants I've visited still put bottles of olive oil on the table anyway, we went for a pizza last week and the chili oil to drizzle over it was in a bottle. During the pandemic they used to bring some in a little glass bowl but thankfully they stopped doing that after the regulations were dropped.

As for toiletries in hotels, I always take my own anyway, but most of the places I stay in have wall mounted refillable containers for shower gel, shampoo and body lotion, there already seems to have been a move away from miniature plastic bottles.

Those aren't single-use, though.

Sugar packets are normally in paper, not plastic so they should not be affected...

Doubtless most of Spain will just ignore it.

What I wonder do they propose in place of single portion servings of butter and jam?

Were those like hand-out, promo packs? Surely not retail size of any sort!

Yep, most people in the Uk think they only do one or two varieties.

They make something like 20 different flavours and 95% of the production is exported. I get them here and usually get the apple of cherry flavours.
One of the best factories I have ever installed machines, they look after their employees, pay them above average wages and only work Mon - Fri 8 to 4
The only other place I know as good was at Taylor's tea in Harrogate.
