Default Mobile home in Spain.

We are thinking about buying a mobile home and moving to Spain in the next couple of months. We have looked at many sites in most regions and most seem very appealing, why do the site fees vary so much from 1500 to 5000 euros per year. Has anyone any advise to offer and does anyone know the benefits of freehold sites or there where we can find them

As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

Rosemary

Spain gets cold in the winter, minus figures are not scarce.

By mobile home what exactly do you mean, a motorised one or a static, if static do you mean buying in Spain a mobile home/chalet already on a site ? if that is case BE VERY CAREFUL

Be sure that it has all the facilites it advertises, be sure it has no restrictions on how long you can live on the park, be sure it is residencial not holiday.... some have 11 months rather than 12 therefore you have to take 'holiday' for the month they do not allow residence. Find out about the term you are allowed to stay, long term/lifetime can be changed before your eyes. Check with other owners on the park about issues like site fees, maintanence fees, utilities and any other extras they may sneak in. Car access to your door, car parking spaces for your home. Try and choose a well established one, as at least one I know of has many issues and some folk have lost out big time.

Welcome and good luck with your plan.

Make sure the site has all the correct licences, some are illegal. Onw as in the news where the Civil guard came and taped up all the site.

Take note of what the Capains Wench said. It is basically true. I in my office here in Alicante last year had a person who were moved on 3 times in 18 months. Check Check and Check again. Main thing is talk to at least 3 other people on the site. On site people are nearly always aware of the problems. My opinion is house prices are so long just buy up a bargain house.
Ps Yes I am an estate agent here now for 23 years.
