Microbreweries in Southern Spain?
Are there any?
There is certainly a good market amongst ex-pats alone. I'm sure it could also work as a tourist trail thing - hugely successful in the states.
I am seriously thinking about setting up. Very interested to read from anyone with knowledge of existing microbreweries, or even operating experience.
Off travelling for work until returning to Granada next Spring. I will research all the legal stuff in the meantime. A stable income from my Two loves in life (art and booze) would be perfect. Any reason why this shouldn't be possible?

The only one I know of is the Kettal Brewery in Palmones near Algeciras.

Yes I published an article recently:-
Althaia Artesana with Passion
What do you get if you mix malt, hops and yeast with water? Yes, beer. But in the case of Althaia if you add some passion into the process you get a high quality, tasty natural beer.
Althaia Artesana are tucked away in a residential area of Altea where Mayte and Jorge work hard to produce a range of delightful hand-crafted beers.
A smiling Mayte, a Murciana, welcomed our large group and gave us a brief overview in English of their fledgling business, only started in August 2014. However, in under a year they have become highly organised with a well stocked and organised micro brewery. She invited us to split into two smaller groups for the tour of their production area..........
Message me if you want more or see here:

I understand you enquired about Spain - but I think this is also interesting and maybe all part of consumer demand and backlash to the big boys..........

Each region of Spain has their own brand of beer e.g. Cruzcampo in Sevilla, Victoria in Malaga, Alhambra in Granada, Estrella Damn and Moritz in Barcelona, but of course these are big industrial breweries and people across Spain drink those brands

Never seen Fosters as far as I am aware. Must be just where EsuriJohn lives.
The only 'foreign' beer I've seen is Heineken and that's Cruzcampo. We used to stock it because the Spanish thought it was 'cool' because it was imported, which it isn't.
The Brits used to drink San Miguel, our tap beer.

Re: Microbreweries in Southern Spain?
Thanks for the links and info'.
Seems a fair few have opened very recently. Two alone in Ronda operating through a Cordoba based cooperative. Very interesting. La Bandolera ya está aquí | Not sure if the coop' uses different names, or if they use Two different organisations.
I was thinking more along the lines of an English style pale ale, or red ale using pure Sierra Nevada waters. Not sure how serious I am, but I like the idea. Off to California for winter. There are loads operating very successfully there. Have been for years. Research needs to be done. I see no reason why it wouldn't succeed in Andalucia, especially if everybody worked together to promote the tourist trail idea. Perhaps I can manage and market that idea rather than open my own microbrewery. Worth spending time and a bit of money on.
Anyone for a bottle of Oro de Otoño? A delicious late autumn red ale

Fosters has never ever been served in a Spanish establishment

Found a brilliant microbrewery in Cordoba. Called 'Califa' they brew several artisanal beers from pale blond to a really nutty dark ale. They have aweb site if you care to google. Also on Tripadvisor
