Re: Meeting Mature Singles - New sub-forum on Costa del Sol?
Could I start a sub-forum on Málaga and the Costa del Sol?
I've worked for many years as a freelance writer, I have a blog about Miami and I'm thinking of starting one about the Costa del Sol when I'm settled back in Spain.

Re: Meeting Mature Singles - New Málaga & Costa del Sol Forum
Would the admin. be interested in starting a sub-forum about Málaga and the Costa del Sol?
The coast here is full of expats.

Well ... OK, sorry my choice of words.
Someone quoted Rule 4 which is trolling, and thats a norm for new posters who just join to cause trouble. I guess I should have said .. he's not a new poster, hes been here since November 2010

Hi
I use plenty of fish, connecting singles, pebbles on the beach but if you would like a Spanish partner then Match.com is another to use
The best advice I can say is to try one and see if you like the scene. Googling "dating sites in Spain" will bring up many more

Re: Meeting Mature Singles - Dating Agencies
Thanks Dave.
Maybe I'll give one or two agencies a try in addition to face-to-face groups and just going out doing things that I like doing.
As well as Spanish and English I speak reasonable Portuguese and rusty French and German plus Geordie, so nationality isn't very important to me.

Re: Meeting Mature Singles
If I can make a practical suggestion based on the OPs needs, especially concentrating on the emphasis on the lack of permanence, I would advise him to go to Cafe Benidorm, on the edge of The Square, after the summer chavs have gone home.
It ticks all the boxes and will be full of like minded people of all shapes and sizes, but larger ones that speak Geordie will be plentiful, Moats in minis.
There used to be a similar venue halfway up the slopes of Benalmadena, but I moved away a while ago.
There is one major snag with places like Cafe Benidorm, it's really hard to fail there, but if you do, there is nowhere else to go without paying for it.

I dare to ask but what on earth is "a moat in minis" and can a you clarify what you mean by "but larger ones that speak Geordie will be plentiful" and "There is one major snag with places like Cafe Benidorm, it's really hard to fail there, but if you do, there is nowhere else to go without paying for it". You have a real way with words HBG,

I know the University of the Third Age is well-represented in our area of Costa Blanca (Denia) so there is probably a branch in Malaga too?

Re: Meeting Mature Singles
Cafe Benidorm, in the winter, is probably the most famous grab-a-granny venue in the world and is popular with visitors from the north of England, as is the whole of Benidorm. I don't know why, and if I say too much I'll be on thin ice anyway, but the average lady visitors seem much larger than their southern counterparts.
Last I heard, they even had a Geordie bouncer on the door, a big lad, like that Moat chap from Newcastle. The Spanish bouncers can speak English, as do the waiting staff, but they sometimes have trouble with Geordie accents.
There is a similar Spanish venue for their grannies just along from the Don Pancho in the main street. They keep out any troublemakers by charging five Euros for a half of lager, and if you buy a Spanish lady a drink, whiskey inevitably, you'll need a platinum card.
