you might try posting on a cruising forum, as alot of them are livaboards doing work in the fancy marinas. Most mega yachts have got their own engineer onboard and go into boatyards for big maintenence jobs, which I think unless you had good spanish would be hard to break into. But the medium sized boats with just owner and friends or just a captain and cook are often desparate for someone "today" as they are on quick charter turnaround. Alot are english crew or "north european" and find it easier to deal with a "Brit" because of the language. If you were good and reliable word would soon get around!
Your main decision is mainland or Balearics (charter/yacht center of west med)
We picked Costa Blanca near Altea with Brit schools, beautiful mountains and boats. because we did not want to be on an Island anymore!(afer 15 yrs chartering in the caribbean)

Good advice Searcher. Sorry Matt have no knowledge of Palma. Not my kind of sailing. Neither is Puerto Banus. I do know someone who has a large yacht in Barcelona that they charter. next time we speak I will ask how easy it is to get work done at short notice etc. Good Luck.

Hi....

Its Chele here.... Phil over in Southampton working on a Sunseeker as we speak... At the moment he is a Field Service Engineer, he is time served and been doing the job now for 17 years and is good at what he does!! ;) I think we are wanting to be mainland as that is where my cousin headed ( gosh knows where she wll end up - she just packed her and 4 children in a campervan with her worldly goods and went, brave or stupid - i haven't worked that out yet  )

Thank you for all your positive advice, its great....:)
