When I go to my garden supplies shop I can buy lots of things that have been banned in the UK by the EU!

You can also buy some products that have been banned for private use in the EU. Typically Roundup type weed killer in 5 l bottles that are only supposed to be sold to licence holding professionals.

Like some OTC pharmaceuticals - It cost more to buy a couple of dozen aspirin tablets in a blister pack in the UK than it had previously cost to buy a jar of 100, which was discontinued for "safety reasons" in the UK about 25 years ago. It appears that the "safety" of only selling small quantities has come at a substantial price increase for the product purchased by the consumer.

Pointless as too easily changed, simply power cycling a router will usually serve up a new IP address, a few minutes switched off certainly will.

To put it into context assuming the much publicised £350m per week figure was money going out with nothing coming back it represents around 0.08% of the UK's GDP.

They didn't put that on the side of the bus!

What does GDP have to do with the government's tax revenue and expenditure?

The government levies taxes, and borrows, to fund expenditure, GDP has nothing to do with that!

I was thinking of copper sulphate and slug pellets. Quite useful when used sparingly.

It was overturned but why one would need it is beyond me. With so many natural home remedies, no need to use metaldehyde. Even a hedgehog would be the better solution but unfortunately humans kill them too.

The only time I use them is under black plastic sheets. If I dont my lettuces are filled with slugs. I just put about 3 pellets next to each plant. Birds and animals cannot access them because they are covered. Advise me your best alternative solution?

To be honest I've used coffee grounds around the plants and the slugs stay away. I also just go over to greenhouse and collect them in the evening when they come out and put them elsewhere. Generally you're better off planting plants they prefer and the lettuce is ignored https://www.slughelp.com/how-to-kill...-alternatives/

Plastic container half buried beside the plants with beer in it is what some swear by.
