I suppose the big national newspapers would be the most popular as in most places, and for the women the usual Hola, Pronto and such with all the gossip about the stars.

And lets not forget the TEFL teachers weekly.

What about mens/gadget mags (not *those* mags!) ?

Also, are there any local Madrid only publications that are popular?

There are a couple of free papers: 20Minutos is one - handed out by the metro stations and so on. Also, El Mundo, El PaĆs etc have a large pull-out with local news, stories and classifieds.

well a quick google would give you

http://www.thepaperboy.com/spain/mad...s/province.cfm
which also gives you will find a link to all newpapers in Spain

http://www.mediaonline.net/en/spain/madrid/newspapers

there are many other options in the search field so it really depends on what you are looking for, what you are advertising - your business or a client's product/service

I know there are a number of pr/media companies in both Madrid and Barcelona who could help you - for a fee.

Thanks, I've already exhausted the many online sources of information. Unfortunately they usually tend to be out of date so you really can't beat asking someone who lives there what is current/popular at the time.

Sorry for not replying earlier. My attention is on other things as my father is going through a rough patch at the moment.

I'm not sure what you mean by magazines/newspapers that are currently popular. I suspect you will only get this from publishers' stats (which are always distorted in an effort to get more advertising). In a city of milions, you can't tell from looking at work-mates reading material what is true for the whole city. Yes, you can look on the metro and see the As, Marca, Que!, 20minutos or whatever being read, but that isn't a true picture either. It may be an idea to ask on Madridman.com this question, or look around in-madrid.com
