Lunar Eclipes tonight (Weds)
#1

Theres going to be a total lunar eclipes tonight, I think one site said it will be total at 10.15pm.....
''Astronomers have promised that it will be much more than a normal eclipse of the moon. It is set to be one of the darkest ever, making the visual experience even more intense than it usually is.
People in Spain are being advised to look in an easterly-south easterly direction, where the phenomenon will be visible for approximately seven hours from the onset of nightfall.
Although the phenomenon will be visible to the naked eye, the lunar eclipse will be much clearer if viewed out in the countryside, well away from city lights''

Could it explain the increase in complaints here about ticks?

On Spanish TV today they mention 9:20pm and that it would all go RED - sounds too good to miss.

The moon will already be fully eclipsed when it rises tonight (around 2130 here in Málaga, a few minutes earlier in Valencia)
The maximum of the eclipse is at 2213 spanish time. The over the next few hours, until around 1am, you will see the moon gradually come out of the earth's shadow.
This wiki site has all the technical stuff and if you read spanish, this ABC article is the best one I've seen in non-tech terms.

I could see it as it came over the mountains in the far distance and it was blood red.
Unfortunately I only had my point and shoot G11 ready, by the time it got to a position where I could take a shot the eclipse was virtually over.
That will teach me to have the DSLR ready and waiting next time!

And just to check, I tried logging out of picasa and clicking the link, and it opened fine. Sorry if it doesn't work for you, I don't know why.
