I make it £14.59 inc delivery.

The Book Depository "free post" option is £14.83

Amazon is so much cheaper if you order more than one item - it always beats the so called "free postage" options.

By the way it's a great book!

Apologies for above. I genuinely did not realise you could buy study guides to go with Dan Brown books.

Yes, that's the price if you have it delivered in the UK.

In theory they deliver to Spain "free" but they will only do that if you pay in Euros and they will charge you €14.49 which is £13.62 at today's rates.

So much for "free" delivery!

Should have seen the props in the first pic! Tell us a bit more then, It´s a pilot boat which you´re going to work with ? The draught seems very litlle with only 1 mtr. won´t she roll too much? Engine? Speed, Age, lenght, weight?

(Dear moderators, I know it´s all very off topic, I´m just having a chat)

From Wikipedia:

Planing describes the state in which the hull of a waterborne craft is lifting up higher up to the point where it merely skims across the water, rather than moving through it. It describes a craft which is predominantly supported by hydrodynamic lift, rather than hydrostatic lift (buoyancy). This happens due to the relative motion of the passing water pushing the hull up, it rises up with dynamic lift. As the hull rises up the wetted surface becomes smaller, thus reducing hydrodynamic drag and making higher speeds achievable.

Btw, at what speed does she plane (your boat, obviously) ? Depends on the weight is my guess, but you have a combined 430 hp right?

Can't say I'm too familiiar with Dan Brown and his lost symbol but I'm always interested in a good book.
However looked at the reviews on Amazon and mostly seemed quite disappointing with an average rating of only around 3 stars,so thought better of it for now.
Horses for courses I suppose,..may or may not be my cup of tea....but usually prefer to risk my readies on something with better odds......

I really enjoyed reading all his books, I also like John Grisham´s and James Patterson. If you like their style then Dan Brown is a good read for you as well.

Whether you would like it or not is a personal issue but it's first print run was 6.5 million copies and it sold one million copies on the first day making it the fastest selling adult novel in history.

If it's crap there will be a lot of very disappointed people!

I certainly can't pass judgement as I haven't read it, and nor had those million people when they bought it on the first day.
All I'm saying is it did not get a great write up in feedback from reader reviews, and quite a few expressed disappointment that it was not up to the mark of the previous ones.

I have read most of John Grishams and kind of felt that his standards slipped somewhat after his excellent early publications.

The ratings on Amazon are meaningless, most of the five-star ones are from the author, his family, or his agent and publisher.

I am a very disappointed reader of The Lost Symbol:thumbdown:

After his other four books I am afraid that it is not as good as DaVinci Code or Angels and Demons, before I am shot down this is my opinion but I have been a huge fan of Dan Brown and expected more from him. The plot is very good but I think that there is a lot of waffle which becomes boring.

As an avid book reader I also enjoy Michael Connolly and would recommend his recent book Nine Dragons which brought back Bosch. James Patterson has released two new books Ales Cross's Trial and I, Alex Cross which are good. Some excellent authors that I thoroughly enjoy are Harlan Coben, Karen Rose and Richard Montanari, all of these are riviting crime thrillers.

I would appreciate other peoples opinions and recomendations for other authors.

Happy Reading:)

Hi Sue

Found Karen Rose by chance when looking at the paperbacks in Asda and am now a huge fan, if you enjoy gripping thrillers with twists and turns then try these. Santa Claus is bringing me her new one so early nights after Christmas so that I can read for longer!!!
