Question Lost in the Post?

Hey everyone,

I need to pick your brains. I had my bag stolen last week with my phone, bank card etc. Luckily I have insurance so my Mum sent me a new phone at the start of last week and my boyfriend sent my new bank card. Neither have arrived but in the meantime I have had a postcard.

Has anyone else had stuff go missing in the post? Another mystery is that we dont have a letterbox. I am always working in the mornings so I gusess the postie just buzzes all the flats until someone lets him in to leave post in the hall. Confused!

If they cant deliver they leave a card to take to the PO to pick it up.
You should of had them delivered to where you work.

Yeah you´re right, I did it in a rush cuz I was panicking about my passport and keys that were also in the bag (luckily they both got returned). Well I haven´t had any cards and its been over a week so maybe I should give up hope. I live in the centre of Malaga so my place is hardly off the beaten track!

I dont think they would leave a parcel without a signature for it, can you get your mum to track it from her end, she did insure it I assume ?

Cool Re: Lost in the Post?

It's very strange because I find that the postal service, both ways, between Spain and the UK is excellent but that it takes a letter about three weeks to get from Málaga to Almería!

Is that the general opinion peeps, because I buy and sell a lot of stuff on ebay and I've been a bit concerned about the UK / Spain postal service. Do people buy off Amazon & Playcom etc with no problems, as a lot of this stuff comes from the channel islands?

I´ve been here since May and I´ve never had a problem before. I have sent and received packages which usually take three days max. I hear that recorded delivery from the UK to Spain is quite expensive though.

Yes recorded abroad is expensive anywhere - I'm just sending a small parcel (camera lens) to Latvia and a "signed for" is £7.78, but a full track and trace is £38!

dont worry about it, its ebay, the buyer pays remember

our post normally gets left tucked behind the reja of the front door. considering the area in which we live, parcels often get lost in the post

We have a mail box for e bay purchases and fro most mail as the post boxes on our urbanisation are vulnerable, and the posties sometimes leave parcels just on a shelf in the post area, which isn't locked, although individual boxes are. We have noticed that post from the UK is slower to arrive than post from here to the UK, and we recently had a parcel from the USA that took a month, despite being sent airmail, and not held up at customs as far as we know. USA stuff often takes no more than a week. We've had stuff from Amazon and other UK on-line suppliers with no problem.

Yes, I buy from Amazon and from CDwow and they are both excellent. My cdwow purchases fit in my postbox. Amazon email me when my purchases have been despatched and I tell the chap at my venta that looks after the parcels. He then leaves me a note. My ebay purchases from the UK have gone well (albeit an expensive way to buy cos of the postage) but my purchase from a Spanish ebay seller has not gone so well. I bought an item on July 1st and paid directly, bank to bank a/c. After several emails to the seller, I'm still waiting for my purchase and ebay have been less than helpful. After dealing successfully in the UK, this has rather put me off.
