Default Lost NIE certificate

My daughter has lost her NIE certificate. I have googled and as far as I can discover she will have to go to the same police station where the original was issued for a replacement. Has anyone any experience of this? She is now at a different address and would obviously prefer to go to a local police station. Is this possible - does anyone know?

Yes we went to the same station as we applied, i.e. Gandia.
We had a photocopy of the certificate and just handed it in to them with our passports and they issued a new one on the spot free of charge

Our spanish solicitor in England sorted our NIE numbers, so he has a copy of our numbers. Depends how you got it in the first place.

She got the original in Alicante so it looks like a trip over there is necessary. Pity she can't get it replaced at a police station nearer.

National is the word.....
If it was issued in CDS and you want it replaced in Madrid or where ever, they only have to look the number up on line and push a button to print it out.
