Do you speak Spanish is a good place to start, even if you are working with UK people there are bound to be Spanish people involved, even those you need to stop are likely to be Spanish, so knowing the language might be very important.

Hi i can speak a little but need to spend time leaning like i did in germany its not an easy language to speak but i am not bad at learning . I still require that NIE as you cant work unless u have that or is that a load of buff .Pete

You will need this for working and living.
I was recently chatting with a couple moving over from Scotland. They told me they can sort it out from Scotland through the Spanish Embassy.
To be honest I don´t know how one might organise their NIE out of Spain but someone here will surely know.

NIE is like a social security number, and you need it for any legal things, like jobs etc, doesn't take long to get and a gestor can do it for you, or you can, I believe get it through the Spanish Embasy, well you could a few years ago.

All we needed was our passports, and we used a gestor to do it, but we were in Spain at the time.
