Re: Looking for a Spanish retreat home.
I have been looking into Granada, there are some lovely suitable properties but alas now looking into flights, I can see what you mean they are almost non exsistent.
Onwards and upwards now looking at Murcia, does anybody have any advice on this area ? I know about the new airport so that is a plus even the old one looks useful. I am not so sure where the new theme park is planned for, so I can avoid around that area, if anybody had the details I would be very interested .

Granada may not have the flights but you do have flights in to Malaga and Seville. many many people have to travel to get to their personal area of calm and tranquility. with RAF and USAAF traiining flights and local police helicopter it will be nice not to have any aircraft flying on my radar.
may i suggest you look again at airports, roads and distances you are prepared to travel. I live in Granada, a bus is just over an hour nonstop to Malaga, I have recently been able to get from house in uk to flat in granada by bus\train\air\train\bus with no problems what so ever via Malaga.
In the uk I am 1.5hrs from EMA, Stansted and Luton so being 1.5hrs from Malaga doesn't worry me, but then I am near to Granada's bus station so its just a pleasant walk from there.

However, not making any ridiculous assumptions about your financial situation , if you head further North to the Northern CB there are quite a few nice areas inland from the coast, and property seems to be less costly here than in the CDS. Heading out to Xativa and that area. There also quite a few nice villages only 10 - 20 kms inland from here.
If you are seriously into riding horses, there is a stables in one of the Valleys near Forna, only 15-20 kms inland

Had a peek and this makes the "house" in alhaurín look even more seriously overpriced. A very much more upmarket area too.

I'd question the maths, though...... a reduction from 1,200,000 to 6,000,000 seems a tad deceptive even for an estate agency

If was you, I would be looking for nice land and stables in a coolish area, and then check to see if the property was ok for visiters to use, horses before visitors

Love your sentiments adra and totally agree. If I had my way the horses would be in the air con'd house and the visitors in the stables but some would say this rude

What about the beautiful area of the Sierra de las Nieves and its white villages lots of old cortijos land suitable for horses, still only a short drive to Marbella and Malaga but out in the middle of nowhere.

If they really have this sort of money to throw around, dont you think they will/would be paying someone to search a property rather than post here

the plans are so open, just like a piece of A4 with a couple of jottings on, nothing concrete, just blowing with the wind
