I don't think the Alhaurín area will be upmarket enough for the Chelsea set
Going through these replies as they come - this does sound VERY !!! interesting - will defo check it out - don't know Fergie BTW I have only just moved to Chelsea, so would not know the Chelsea set if they came up and hit me. It is my husbands house, personally not the life I want to lead , he wants polo though and has to entertain. Me, I want horses and the quiet life

Thank you so much for your answers. Some are REALLY ! helpful and some a bit strange.

It doesn't need to be anywhere near the coast. Just near to somewhere that we can entertain people who may visit, also why we need so many bedrooms. How we live at the moment we can take my husband business contracts to some great clubs etc, it makes life easier , I don't have to talk to them that much and that suits me fine I sort of had Granada and it's outskirts in mind. I have been to Granada a couple of times and love the atmosphere there.

Will certainly look into the suggested areas though - thanks

My new husband and I have decided to buy a home in the sun , we have decided on Spain due to flight times mainly.

We like our homes to be isolated but within half an hours drive to action - good clubs , casinos etc . We need an up market area and preferably one without too many British expats. Also we would prefer not to be on the coast, yes I know strange but we much prefer the beauty of inland Spain and the quiet traditional life unless we choose otherwise and decide on the action area

I know you are not estate agents but just to give you an idea of our ideal property it would be a 10 bedroom farmhouse with at least 10 acres for our horses.

If any of you have any ideas of an area that may be worth us looking into it would be very much appreciated .
May I suggest a private pilot?

I wondered if hiring a private pilot may allow you to look for a "retreat" in the countryside further away from the action? (For example, Extremadura.)
If I were so fortunate, I might research the easier access (via air) along the Sevilla, Cordoba and Granada corridor?

Oh Okay understand now thanks, I wondered if you flew. I think people have got the wrong idea of our finances, Certainly don't have the bucks for planes or pilots. Infact also enviromentally I wouldn't consider that either even if we were that fortunate.

I have been looking into Granada, there are some lovely suitable properties but alas now looking into flights, I can see what you mean they are almost non exsistent.

Onwards and upwards now looking at Murcia, does anybody have any advice on this area ? I know about the new airport so that is a plus even the old one looks useful. I am not so sure where the new theme park is planned for, so I can avoid around that area, if anybody had the details I would be very interested .

Paramount Theme Park

Detailed plans for the Paramount Theme Park (To be known as Paramount Resort Murcia) to be built in Murcia have now been revealed , The President for the Company responsible for the project along with executives from Paramount licensing, revealed that the theme park will hopefully be open in late 2014. Construction start date recently reported by Regional Government is February 2012 The theme park is expected to attract five million visitors per year, that’s 50% more than Port Aventura, currently Spain’s largest theme park.
The park is to be built on 108 acres of land in Alhama de Murcia just 20 minutes from the new international airport at Corvera which opens early in 2012 and is only 20 minutes from the beaches of the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor. Its location is ONLY a 10-15 minute drive from CAMPOSOL so the Villas offered by us are to be considered the perfect location for any family wishing to take in the joys of what is to be one of Europe’s biggest attractions. Demand is expected to be high and reservations made as soon as an opening date is announced will secure you a holiday to remember.
The location of the park is in an area that has 300 days of sunshine per year, The park has been described as the “envy of Europe” and will feature four main areas.
The first area called “City Adventure” will include three major attractions. One of them will be based on the film Titanic and will feature a huge reproduction of the ocean liner. This area will also host one of three roller coasters to be built in the park based on “The Italian Job” and a virtual reality feature entitled “Mission Impossible”.
The second area, “Lost Valley”, will feature a water ride recreating a trip down the Congo river along with a recreation of the crypt from “Tomb Raider” and a rollercoaster based on the legend of Beowulf.
Especially designed for children is the “Woodland Fantasy” area. A more tranquil offering, dominated by a large tree and featuring magic workshops and interactive adventures including one based on the “Spiderwick Chronicles”.
Plaza Futura is the cutting edge technology area which will feature “Star Trek” and a spectacular recreation of “War of the Worlds”. Not for the faint hearted this area will feature a passage of terror based on the feature film “Paranormal Activity”.
The centrepiece of the park will be an avenue flanked by hotels, restaurants and a shopping centre with a pavilion focusing on the attractions of the region of Murcia and Spain.
Over one billion Euros is to be invested in the park which will employ in excess of 10,000 people during the course of construction. The park will also contain an auditorium with capacity for 15,000 people and the largest convention centre in the region of Murcia capable of accommodating over 3,000 people in its main hall.
